Lactation Bites
When you’re constantly nursing a newborn, snacking can be hard! You’re one handed, you’re short on time, and you’re STARVING all the time. These little lactation energy bites have been a lifesaver for me these past few weeks, so I wanted to share the recipe with you all. You can even make these if you’re not breastfeeding as a healthy energy snack, just leave off the brewers yeast. They are so tasty and really help curb hunger and can even increase your milk supply! WIN WIN! Here’s how you make them…
Ingredients:
1 cup Old Fashioned Oatmeal
1/2 cup Peanut Butter
1/2 cup Ground Flaxseed
1 cup Unsweetened Shredded Coconut
1/2 cup Honey
1 tbsp Brewer’s Yeast
1 pinch Salt
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 cup Mini Chocolate Chips
Preparation notes:
Combine the dry ingredients (oatmeal, coconut, chocolate chips, Brewer’s Yeast, salt, and flaxseed) first.
Next, add the wet ingredients (peanut butter, honey, and vanilla) with a stand mixer on low until combined.
Refrigerate for at least an hour.
Remove from fridge, form into small balls about a tablespoon each.
Store in fridge for up to a week. You can also freeze them and then just take out a few at a time a keep them in the fridge until you’re ready to eat them.
If you’re not breastfeeding, you can still have these as a great energy snack by just eliminating the brewers yeast.
