10 Postpartum Must Haves
I’m 5 weeks postpartum with baby #3, and I feel like I learn new things with every delivery, so I wanted to pass on my knowledge to all of you mamas out there that are or will be postpartum.
Breast Shell and Milk Catcher – These handy little things are such a lifesaver! If you’ve breastfed before, you know how precious every little drop of that liquid gold is. These shells help you catch the milk that’s leaking on the opposite breast the baby is nursing on when your milk lets down. You’ll be surprised how much milk you can store doing this.
Tummy Compression Leggings – I’m obsessed with these leggings! They are light-weight, but don’t show your underwear. They give a great amount of compression to your tummy without suffocating you. I cannot recommend these enough!
Large Water Bottle – It’s important to drink a lot of water postpartum, whether you’re breastfeeding or not, and this huge water bottle has made that so much easier for me. I don’t have to run to fill it up every couple of hours (I drink two of these a day), and my water stays cool all day! This is an awesome water bottle, and I love these straws to go in it.
Waffle Knit Top (breastfeeding-friendly) – This is the PERFECT breastfeeding and postpartum top ever! It buttons down the front, so it makes for easy boob-access, it ties at the bottom so it hides that post-baby pooch, and it’s light-weight enough to wear year-round! Plus, it comes in so many colors! True to size!
Breastfeeding-Friendly PJs – I have LOVED having PJs like these while breastfeeding! They are soft, comfy, and buttoned in the front, so they make for the perfect breastfeeding PJ top. Plus, they come in a shorts version for summer!
Earth Mama Herbal Perineal Spray – This stuff was a lifesaver in the first few weeks after coming home from the hospital. Spray a little down there after each bathroom trip. Helps with healing, itching, and smells amazing!
Earth Mama Nipple Butter – I’ve tried several different nipple creams over the years, and this one is by far my favorite! Start using it after your very first nursing session to keep blisters and soreness at bay! I haven’t had sore nipples once this go round, and I attribute it to this magic concoction!
Shiatzu Back Massager – I’ve been all kinds of sore these last few weeks. My neck and back get a major workout from holding the baby, looking down while nursing, not to mention all the soreness I had from labor. This amazing massager has been so amazing to have on hand to get all those knots out and help me relax. It really feels like a person is massaging you! It’s THAT powerful and THAT good! Trust me, and get yourself one of these! You’ll thank me later!
Lactation Supplement – This awesome supplement has really helped increase my milk supply! I put a whole dropper of it in my water in the morning and sip it throughout the day. It’s tasteless, and having all those supplements in liquid form helps the body absorb them faster than a pill. LOVE this stuff!
Under Eye Concealer – take it from a tired mom of three and just get yourself a GOOD quality under eye concealer! If this is your first baby, just trust me on this one. If this isn’t your first baby, you probably already own this stuff because you know sleep is a joke and bags are just part of your life now! But you don’t have to look like you got punched in the face in a bar fight when you wake up every morning! This stuff will be your BFF postpartum! I like the ItCostmetics one if your skin is dry, but if you have oily skin, go with this one.
And that’s a wrap! What do you think? Was that helpful? Do you have things you would add to the list?
XOXO, Anna
